The best coffee in Tampa
Nine Tampa cafés and roasters, from Seminole Heights to Ybor City.
9 entries · verified August 2026
Tampa's coffee is neighbourhood-driven and improving quickly. Seminole Heights, anchored by Spaddy's, is where the independent roasting energy sits, and Ybor City offers something no other city on this list does: a historic cigar district whose cafés (Blind Tiger, Cafe Quiquiriqui, and The Lab a short drive over in North Hyde Park) inherited the architecture along with the name recognition.
Worth knowing before you plan a route: several strong Tampa rooms, including some on this list, pour Miami's Panther Coffee or Intelligentsia rather than roasting themselves. That's not a mark against them, but it matters if you came specifically for locally roasted beans: The Lab, Spaddy's and Buddy Brew roast their own; Casa Azul and Kings Arms build their menus around beans sourced from elsewhere.
The Lab Tampa
Billed as Florida's first collaborative roastery, started in 2016 when Zeal Coffee and Blind Tiger (also on this list) pooled resources for a shared roasting space in North Hyde Park. Runs public roasting classes alongside its retail café; reviewers point to the nitro cold brew and the cortado as the two orders worth making a trip for.

Elevation Coffee Roasters
Consistently at the top of Tampa specialty listings, and the safest single recommendation. Multiple locations across the metro; the original Northdale café draws the most consistent praise for its cappuccino and caramel latte, and one location shifts from café to wine bar as the evening goes on.

Spaddy's Coffee
Seminole Heights
Started as a mobile coffee bar, now a bricks-and-mortar roaster with an outdoor courtyard. The trajectory tells you something about the commitment, and reviewers back it up: house-roasted beans, a dog-friendly courtyard, and a Florida Man latte alongside a chorizo breakfast burrito that gets named as often as the coffee does.

Buddy Brew Coffee
A long-established local roaster with the strongest search presence of any Tampa coffee brand, and multiple locations across the city (Hyde Park, Kennedy, downtown). The cold brew is the recurring favorite, described in reviews as bold without turning bitter; a few reviews flag long waits and cramped seating at the busier locations.

Blind Tiger Coffee Roasters
Ybor City
Speakeasy-style rooms and a local staple for specialty coffee and tea, with the Ybor location the one to pick. The Cafe Bombon and the "Dirty Thaiger" are the specialty drinks reviewers call out, and the room doubles as a workspace with free wifi and reading material on hand.

Cafe Quiquiriqui
Ybor City
Inside Hotel Haya, which makes it the most comfortable place in Ybor to sit with a cortado. Cuban-inspired: a café con leche alongside empanadas, pastelitos and a signature Cubano sandwich, in a room reviewers describe as bright and genuinely photogenic rather than styled for the camera and nothing else.

Casa Azul
Mexico City energy applied to a Tampa coffee bar, pouring Intelligentsia beans. The maple brown sugar latte and the horchata cold brew are the two drinks that show up again and again in reviews, alongside churros more than one reviewer called the best they've had anywhere.

Kings Arms Coffee
A reliable specialty option outside the two headline neighbourhoods, tucked under an outdoor pavilion on The River Church campus. "The Cloud" is the specialty drink reviewers point newcomers toward, and the latte art gets called some of the best in Tampa.

Leads Coffeehouse
Rounds out the city's specialty bench with a farmhouse-meets-industrial room built for sitting a while: couches, high-tops, reliable wifi and plenty of outlets. The salted caramel latte and a Cuban sandwich are the recurring food-and-drink pairing in reviews.
